Healing Leaves – More Than Just Medicine

Hello Friends!

We all know that the aloe plant is used for aloe plant for healinghealing. When I was young and suffered a burn, my mother would break off a piece of the aloe, and rub it on the burn. This always made the damage feel better. Was it the Aloe or was it something more? Certainly my mother’s love and caring played a key part in the healing. God’s love also plays a key role.

Ezekiel, writing in Chapter 47, describes the waters flowing from God’s Temple. In verse 12 he writes of the fruit trees growing on both sides of the river saying that “Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.” Is it no wonder that God’s love for us all provides plants like the aloe plant which his children can use to heal. The Nabak of Papa New Guinea use plants every day for food and healing. I wrote in my book Outrageous Grace of some of the uses for the plants and leaves the Nabak introduced to my family. In Nabak Bible.jpgaddition, for the Nabak, book pages are called “leaves” and for them, new meaning is added each time they turn a page (leaf) in the New Testament. The pages of the Bible (leaves) are what will heal the nations.

In Revelation 22:2 John writes that “… the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” I suppose some people might take this is as non-GMO, organic medicine, or modern ded- readers4Geo-political organizations. But it’s for “the nations” – ethnicity, derived from the Greek word ‘ethne’, meaning every ethnic group; because of this I am taking it to be, the Word of God brings healing – of abuse, of false beliefs, of pain and sufferings, of hard situations, of grief. Every situation or encounter of our lives can be healed by turning the pages. But only if you open your Bible, read and most importantly, apply what you learn there.

Today more than ever we need God’s healing to continue our journey. We need to turn the leaves of our Bible, read the Word of God and apply His message to help our personal healing.
