Walk With Me

easter cross

New Year’s is past. President’s Day, Valentine’s Day all past, but of all the holidays, Easter’s the best.

Luke 24 tells one of my favorite stories of two who walked on the road to Emmaus. I often hear stories of how, like those two, people today feel let down. Some have been betrayed. Others are confused. I’ve been in that place myself. The Emmaus story is a perfect reminder that when all our hopes come crashing down, and things have gone pathetically wrong Jesus walks with us.
In my travels, sometimes through scary, wintry weather, I have felt His warmth and peace fill my car. It’s almost so thick I could touch it. It’s uncanny. I have these two verses from Psalms tacked to my dashboard—
The Lord will give strength to His people;
the Lord will bless His people with peace.
I sought the Lord and He heard me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
So if you happen to think of me as I cruise along, send up a prayer for safety and peace. I might be singing, praying, practicing my verses or listening to Christian radio. He’s turned my 2010 Chevy Cobalt into a sanctuary. By the time you read this I’ll be traipsing to Hollidaysburg, Altoona, Johnstown, Newport, Pittsburgh, then Lancaster—all in PA—for a variety of speaking engagements, including a men’s breakfast. That’s a first for me. I appreciate your prayers that God would use my testimony and teaching for His glory in all the assignments ahead.

Sometime this month I need to prepare my taxes. That should be lots of fun (don’t believe it for a minute). Another prayer request.
Many times a day I’m praying for Heidi and the little baby girl she is carrying—due April 29. Now that’s a date we won’t ever erase from our minds. Isn’t it good of God to bring life at the exact time where there was once death?
There is almost a rhythm to the process. Things die—others come to life. Dashed dreams—hopes fulfilled. Dark Fridays—bright Sundays. Whenever Jesus comes on the scene, renewal occurs. He infuses every moment with resurrection power and healing potential.
So whatever day it is in your life, don’t throw in the towel. Walk with Jesus instead. Let Him open the Scriptures to you. I’m grateful for His sweet presence, and I’m appreciative of you too. I wouldn’t be able to do a tenth of what I do without the refreshment and hope you bring. Thank you for helping me live life forward.
