Grace’s Favorite Meatballs
December 14, 2017 8:39 am 2 CommentsWell friends, the holiday season is here. Maybe it’s time for another recipe! This meatball recipe came from my dear friend, Gwen Webb. She was my Australian neighbor in PNG. She could knit up a storm, and was also good at listening to my woes. (She helped soothe my soul…and so did these meatballs.) Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
Meat Balls
2 lbs mince steak OR ground beef (as it is called in America)
1 large onion (diced)
I med. green pepper (chopped)
1 – 1 1/2 rashers of bacon (chopped)
1/2 tsp mixed herbs
3/4 – 1 cup rolled oats (dry)
2-3 tablespoons tomato sauce
Salt
Hot sauce to taste
1 egg
Mix all ingredients. From into balls and cook in a skillet, browning, then lower temperature to finish cooking. This recipe is also suitable for meatloaf or hamburger patties. Good served with mushroom gravy (or spaghetti sauce – see picture below!)
Enjoy, and please send feedback if you try them out. Let me know what you think!

Sounds delicious! But how much is a rasher of bacon?
Thanks! A rasher is one strip/slice of bacon.
