My First Fan Club
August 31, 2012 3:50 pm Leave your thoughtsRecently I made two trips to the Binghamton, NY area. On one Sunday morning I spoke at CrossPoint Community Church, the church I had attended all the while I attended Davis College many years previously. It was also where I led an Adventure Club when we lived on Lisle Ave. during one of our furloughs. It was a bit like coming home to reconnect with people I’ve kept in touch with over the years. http://www.facebook.com/groups/7996409267/
I wove my testimony into the story of Bill Borden. My daughter, Dietlinde, had made a beautiful power point to go along with my message. I, myself, am always challenged whenever I tell the story of young Borden’s commitment and his famous words—No reserves, No retreat, No regret. There was a heartfelt response and I came away that God was powerfully at work in that place.
My second trip was for a book club meeting. Ladies from First Baptist Church had been reading my book and asked me to come and give my testimony to all the book club members who had been reading other books. The ladies who had read my book invited me for dinner at Olive Gardens before the meeting. How did they know that I love Italian food? And imagine my surprise to see that they were all wearing shirts with the title of my book across the front. What a special fan club.
